Kevin, also known as Freak, is one of the main characters in Freak the Mighty. The author, Rodman Philbrick, describes Kevin as a kid that has a deadly illness. In addition Kevin is very imaginative and brave. In the novel, the author reveals that Kevin is very imaginative when he is saying "Onward! Onward to the Fortress!" (Philbrick#50). This shows that Kevin is very imaginative since the "Fortress" is actually a large hospital. Furthermore, the author shows that Kevin is brave when he calls Tony D. a "Cretin. C-R-E-T-I-N. Defined as one who suffers from mental deficiency" (Philbrick#31). This shows that Kevin is not afraid to stand up against a leader of a "gang". Based on the character's behavior and dialogue in this novel, you can clearly see that Kevin is both imaginative and brave.
