Chapter 17: One piece of evidence is when Kane is telling Max, “I have been locked up like an animal. Every single night I cried myself to sleep and that’s a fact” (Philbrick #112). This is because he is a deadly animal that should be locked up. Another example is when Kane swore, “I Kenneth David Kane, do swear by all that’s Holy that I did not murder this boy’s mother. And if that isn't the truth, may God strike me dead” (Philbrick #113). This shows that Kane would trying to tell Max the truth and get Max to think that he is telling the truth and Grim and Gram are telling lies about Kane to Max.

Chapter 20: One piece of evidence is when, “Even a total
goon like me knows you can’t stop Killer Kane, but I go and try anyhow”
(Philbrick #128). This shows that Max is able to get the bravery to stand up
against his dad. Another example is when, “I broke out the window and started
calling someone to come help mommy” (Philbrick #130). This shows that he was
not afraid to call for help even if it meant that Kane might even kill him.

Chapter 21: Not really, here is a reason why I say that,
“The made a deal and Killer Kane pled guilty, which means he has to serve out
the rest of his original sentence plus ten more years” (Philbrick#139). This is
after Grim is waving his hand in the air and yelling, “Yes! Yes!” which usually
happens only after they know something will benefit that person.
