Explanation: Max is a chip off the old block or he resembles his father based on similar they look.
Page#45 While talking to Freak, Max says, "You must have ants in your pants."
Explanation: This idiom means that Freak was antsy or anxious to get going; he was having a very difficulty sitting still.
Page#102: "Quiet as a mouse."
Explanation:The author is comparing how they are trying to be very quiet because mouse are really quite.
Page#32: "...fireworks explode like hot pink flowers in the sky,..."
Explanation: The author is comparing how the fireworks looks similar to a pink flower in the sky.
Page#4: "... he's exploding out of his shoes."
Explanation: The author is trying to prove a point be using hyperbole to express how he is growing so fast.
